Chemo 4 – an update.
Latest chemo side aftecs are horrible. Heres an update sent to the family whatsapp group.
“Hello, wasn’t sure if you’d like a treatment update… giving it anyway … so saw the oncologist yesterday. My mri shows that the thickened skin I had is now normal. The tumours in general have reduced or dispersed but a couple are hanging on to places they were at the start. He confirmed things are going in the right direction but still thinks a mastectomy is in my future. The new cocktail of chemo I’m on is very toxic and the side effects have been more brutal this time. Discussed all of them and he is currently worried about my feet of all things. They don’t look pretty and he is worried about potential infection. So he’s going to reduce by chemo by 10%. It may be my frequency changes so have weekly instead of every three weeks but will see how I get on with my next cycle. I’ve got mouth ulcers and respiratory tract thrush so been given some lovely mouthwash for that. I have to use a baby toothbrush now which of course drew wants to share. That’s a no. Other than all that I’m feeling so much better than I did and food is starting to taste a bit like food again which is lovely. Fatigue is definitely a new feature of life so poor Jase bears the brunt of doing a bit more but now we know when it’s likely to be at its worst we can plan ahead a bit. So positive news from my last visit. I’ve got a heart scan soon and my next mri is after my chemo in march. Bye for now x
